The National MicroCar Rally 2008
was organised by
the Bug Club, and took place from 4 to 7 September 2008, at the
Atwell
Wilson Car Museum in Calne,
Wiltshire.
The weather that weekend was bad enough, across the UK, for
several roads to be closed and various motoring events to be
cancelled - but not the NMCR! An impressive number of
enthusiasts turned up with their cars, from as far afield as
Belgium and Holland, and enjoyed the facilities and activities
on site at the museum, and the road runs to
a
private
motorcycle collection and to Longleat.
The Bug Club had
gone all out to provide impressive facilities, and the huge
marquee, the seriously-posh loos, and the simply excellent
on-site catering meant that - despite a bit of mud - this was a very
enjoyable event.
This year's photos (below) look odd
... and there's a reason: because of the soft conditions, all the
cars were tightly clustered on the gravel around the museum buildings,
instead of the usual grouping by make across the wide expanses of the rally
field. (You can also see on YouTube Mike
Dan's
video of the cars present.)
If you
have photos of cars we've missed from the 2008 NMCR,
or if you can correct anything we've misnamed -
let us know!
